Sewing Terminology Guide

Casing - A fabric tunnel that string or elastic can be pulled/threaded through.

Hand Basting - A hand sewn stitch (running stitch) to hold fabric in place/together temporarily.

Hem - (definition from Wikipedia)
1.  To hem a piece of cloth (in sewing), a garment worker folds up a cut edge, folds it up again, and then sews it down. The process of hemming thus completely encloses the cut edge in cloth, so that it cannot ravel.
2.  A hem is also the edge of cloth hemmed in this manner.
[Please note: For doll clothes it's bulky and impractical so when I referencing 'hemming' I typically only do 1 fold]

Right Side (of fabric) - The visible 'outside' of the fabric that is meant to be seen. (This is not always the case, there are double sided fabrics and some that aren't visibly different on either side.)

Wrong Side (of fabric) - The hidden 'inside' of the fabric that is not meant to be seen. (This is not always the case, there are double sided fabrics and some that aren't visibly different on either side.)
