Instructions

  1. Decide on your image to print. As an example I used NASA's Visions of the Future printable as doll posters. Find a NASA poster you like here. Save the image. Please respect IP. Don't print off things you did not make yourself and attempt to sell/claim them as your own.

  2. Open Gimp or an editing application of your choice and open the image you just saved.

  3. Find the Scale Image or Image Properties, typically this is found under the 'Image' menu. This may be located in different places in different applications and found under different names.
  4. Adjust the settings as follows.
    Width : 3 inches
    DPI : 900.
The DPI adjustment is important for the small picture to show any detail when printed for doll size.
Also size is subjective. I am just sharing my exact sizing for the NASA posters.

  5. Print!
    No color printer?
No problem! Support your local library. Chances are they offer full color printing for a small fee. (If you are truly lucky and have a decent sized library you might even find movie nights, D&D nights, 3d printer access, and interview and assorted job related coaching. Really libraries are so underrated. Unfortunately no forbidden sections with screaming books.)

  6. Before you cut out your printed poster I suggest strongly that you use either spam mail (with thick paper) or card stock paper to re-enforce your poster. Not only will it make it sturdy it will allow it to be used again and again. The backing will withstand the brunt of any rips removing it from it's place might cause without damaging your actual picture.

  7. Cut out your poster and use!

Have fun making your own doll posters. If this tutorial helped you please leave a comment or swing over to firetunaclub on Instagram and show me what you've made!
